Perhaps the problem is with Windows Vista or maybe it is the Format Ease product, but it just doesn’t deliver. Though it seemed to start out okay problems started surfacing. When trying to type in the info for my references sometimes it put it in the reference section without putting the in-text citation in.
Several times the create new reference function gave me an error message saying something was not found when all of the required fields had been typed in correctly. Once you clicked on the tab to acknowledge the error, it would delete all of the work that you had inputted. It was a pain. I’m having to type the stuff in by hand now so why even have this software?
It could also be clearer on putting section headers in the paper. One of the add in tools was even on my menu. Again this could be a Windows Vista problem or even a Format Ease one. I’m not sure. It just isn’t working.
The only positive thing that I found is that it should be the proper way to write a reference and in-text citation in APA style. Then again, I could have found that on the Internet without throwing my money away on this software.

I wasted a LOT of time trying to get this program to work. My husband now says it won’t work at all because one has to have WORD installed on the computer. Basically useless….

If you have microsoft 2007, then you don’t really need this product. I really haven’t used it yet. If you don’t have the 2007 version than this product is for you!

While this software was extremely helpful in entering quotes and bibliography information. It was not as helpful in other areas. I still had to physically change some references after they had been inserted as quotes. There were other petty things that occurred. If you hate references and bibliographies, this software may be worth the expense. Otherwise, find it used.

I encountered ongoing problems while attempting to insert graphics and charts from MS Office 2003 into the documents I was creating with FormatEase 4 – no matter what I tried, I could not make it work successfully. I called and left messages, filled out the on-line form requesting assistance – no response. It appears to me that Guilford Publications understands that MS Word 2007 has made their product obsolete and are no longer supporting it. If you don’t have MS Word 2007, you can find freeware that will give you a reasonable APA format – you certainly don’t need to buy this software to do that.
