I bought this for portable wi-fi and it does work for this. But, I’m a novice in wi-fi so I am disappointed in its limited range. On my house wireless network it is ok in the room below, but out of range in the front of the house maybe 40 feet away. I bought an extender antenna for it which was very difficult to install for lack of “dummy” instructions (assumed I knew a whole lot more than I did). It would allow the netbook to pick up my wireless signal in the front of the house, but speed is so slow that I can’t use it for video.
I was also surprised at getting system error messages early on when I hadn’t done anything to disrupt the default system. And ASUS tech support must come from Taiwan- stilted language and poor spelling/grammar that makes it hard to understand their FAQs and such. There is a very active ASUS Forum on the Internet, but I’m not sure you can trust the advice there in all cases.
Last, maybe I expected too much, but booting is very slow. I may try the extra gig of memory to see what effect that has.
On the plus side- Amazon ordering was a snap and I got it very quickly even with the free delivery. And the price was better than anything else I could find.

I ordered my Asus March 10 and got it about 5 days later. I thought it would be great for me since im a student and I love it and I have no issues with it. I wouldn’t trade it in.

I can not expect more, though the CPU is a little bit slow. But it’s a netbook not notebook.

Great buy for the $. I was afraid it would be junky beacuse it was so inexpensive. I often find, you get what you pay for, but not in this case!!!!!
